Burundi's Independence Day

On July 1st, Burundi celebrated Independence Day as a holiday all over the country. They had a big celebration in Muramvya, although we chose to stay at home and invite some of our friends over for a BBQ (yes, we can still BBQ in Africa; you only need a cow and a fire :o). Pictured is the family of Alex and Tabea and also Sam & Sabine with their brochettes. It was a beautiful day sunny yet breezy. During this time we have all chosen to take time in our homes to relax as we await the results of elections. As you can see Malaki is getting big (eating or drinking much as most would say!) He is over 9 pounds now and about to be 7 weeks old... how time flys! Hope you all enjoy the 4th of July, how we wish we could join you. All our love...
